About festival
The boundaries between various fields of art are often blurred today. At the junction of seemingly different genres and styles, new ideas, inspirations, experiments and finally works are born. The need for an extensive presentation of these phenomena resulted in the creation of the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival – a festival that provides space for the display of trends and laws governing the contemporary design and the unique role of music in them.
The festival consists of various events: chamber and symphonic concerts, exhibitions, workshops, meetings and discussions, happenings, animations and multimedia presentations, installations, light and sound visualisations, with the participation of outstanding artists from Poland and abroad. Everything is connected by a common denominator – form – and integrated into the extraordinary architectural space of the Philharmonic building in Szczecin creating a coherent whole.
During the two editions of the MDF Festival with their 36 different events, the building of the Philharmonic in Szczecin was visited by over 12,000 people. All of them interested in the events taking place at the Philharmonic, with sound, light and images, and above all – unusual and premiere concerts, certainly had a chance to experience the unforgettable. The crowds of Szczecin residents also admired the daily shows of illuminations on the facade of the building, lighting up the everyday white Philharmonic building during festival evenings.
MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival is a space where modernity and innovation meet the classics. The festival responds to contemporary trends and the expectations of the audience. Hybrid concert solutions, the use of modern technologies, or the streaming provided for this year's edition will allow you to participate in the concerts not only in person but also online.
We fall asleep and wake up surrounded by sounds. The noise of cars passing outside the window, the barking of a neighbour's dog, the radio playing in the background, office equipment at work, birds singing in the park, phone calls, music in shops and shopping malls, the sound of the forest or the river – all these create a sound landscape that affects our senses and lives.
The third edition of the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival, which will take place on September 23-27, 2020, is all about soundscapes. We will approach the subject, widely considered today in the acoustic, environmental and architectural context, from the musical side, but also in the non-musical dimension.
