Zuzanna Całka
Zuzanna Całka is a Warsaw based musician, award winning composer and pianist. She appears in a variety of classical, jazz, electroacoustic projects across the Europe playing solo, with orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Her interest in film music and audiovisual synergy has led her to compose for theatre, experimental audiovisual as well as recording for film and video games. In summer 2019 she was awarded with 1st prize on Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest in Łódź improvising ad hoc music for two short movies. In the late 2018, she released the album Warsaw Concerto, which conceptually refers to the romantic history of Warsaw, her hometown. The album includes pieces by Fryderyk Chopin, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and solo piano version of Warsaw Concerto by Richard Addinsell. In 2014 she received a Master of Arts Degree at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw majoring piano and chamber music. She also studied piano at the Universität der Kunst in Berlin, where she lived and worked for over a year. Her musical language is considered to be a development of classical aesthetics combining modern composing techniques derived from her interest of film and electronic music.
