Christian Schumann
The modern, multi-faceted artist quickly gained a reputation not only as an opera and symphonic conductor but also as a musician performing contemporary and film music with great success.
After winning the International Competition for Conductors in Budapest, Christian Schumann attracted the attention of critics and the public. Thanks to a scholarship from Alliance Academy International (AAI), the artist made his debut with important orchestras, incl. The London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall. Since then, he has collaborated with many prestigious orchestras, such as the Staatskapelle Dresden, WDR Rundfunkorchester Köln, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Münchner Symphoniker, Brussels Philharmonic, Trondheim Symfoniorkester, Staatskapelle Weimar, as well as with leading ensembles specializing in the performance of contemporary music in France and the InterContreemisporches: Ensemble für Neue Musik.
In the 2019/20 season, Christian Schumann performed with many prominent orchestras and participated in several essential opera productions throughout Europe. He also conducted the Berlin premiere of Peter Eötvös' opera "Angels in America," gaining great acclaim from critics; as well as a new production of the famous Eötvös opera "Three Sisters in the Teatro" Colón in Buenos Aires.
Schumann's special love for film music prompted him to lead large projects, such as the 2017 Film Music Festival in Krakow, or the last three tours in Austria and Germany with music by John Adams and Hans Zimmer. Christian Schumann has also made several recordings for films and video games, including the original scores by Johan Söderqvist (Battlefield 1 and Battlefield Expansion, respectively).
